How to Start Breeding Pals in Palworld

Want to rule Palworld with the strongest Pals?

The following tips and tricks provides a straightforward path to breeding mastery.

Understanding the Basics of Breeding Pals in Palworld

The breeding system in Palworld provides an excellent way for you to get powerful Pals. To get started, you must unlock the breeding pen at Level 19. This requires spending some technology points and then building the pen with wood, stone, and fiber.

Once you have a breeding pen established, you can begin the breeding process by putting a male and female Pal in the pen. Selecting the right Pals for breeding is crucial, as their traits and skills will determine the strength and abilities of their offspring.

Regardless of the Pals you choose, breeding will result in an egg. If the species of the parents match, the species of the child will be the same. If they don’t match, you can use a breeding calcutator to predict the species of the child.

Choosing Pals to Breed

Selecting the right parents for each new Pal involves a thorough examination of the traits you do (and do not) want to pass down.

In general, you want stronger offensive and defensive skills, faster work speed, swifter movement, and slower hunger and sanity decrease speeds.

Consider what traits you’re trying to maximize and what trade-offs your willing to make before finalizing your parent selection. Some traits have all upside, some come with trade-offs, and others come with all down-side. Here are some of the passive traits Pals can have organized by desirability.

7 Steps to a New Pal Egg

Here are the steps you need to follow to produce a new Pal egg:

  1. Ensure Technology Level: Verify you’ve reached at least technology level 19 to build the mixed farm necessary for breeding.
  2. Construct a Breeding Pen: Gather wood, stone, and fiber to build your breeding pen. It’s best to build the breeding pen on flat land so that ground doesn’t cover the box where you put cake or cover the center of the pen where each egg will show up.
  3. Prepare the Cakes: Cake acts as a catalyst for breeding. To make one cake, you’ll need 8 berries, 5 flour, 7 milk, 8 eggs, and 2 honey. Each breeding pair will produce one egg for each cake you give them, provided they share the breeding pen for the required amount of time.
  4. Insert one or more Cakes into the box attached to the Breeding Pen: Store all your completed cakes in the box attached to the Breeding Pen. The cakes in this box will not expire. They will only disappear when consumed by a breeding pair in order to make an egg.
  5. Assign Pals to the Breeding Pen: Select a male and female Pal, ensuring they possess the desirable traits you’re aiming to combine.
  6. Wait for the Love Meter to Fill: Monitor the breeding pen’s love meter. When it’s full, indicating that love is blossoming, the pair will consume a cake and soon produce an egg.
  7. Wait for the Egg to Appear: The resulting egg will appear in the center of the breeding pen.
  8. Move the Egg to an Incubator: To hatch the egg into a new Pal, move it to an incubator.

Successfully breeding Pals requires patience and strategic planning, especially in gathering ingredients for the cake, which is a crucial part of the process. By following these steps, you can breed Pals with the desired traits to strengthen your team or enhance your base’s productivity.

How to Hatch Your New Egg

Hatching eggs in Palworld is easily achieved with an incubator. Here’s the basic steps:

  1. Place Your Egg in an Incubator: Each egg comes with a timer that tells you how long you need to wait for it to hatch. The waiting time varies depending on the egg’s type and size, with some eggs hatching quicker than others.
  2. Adjust Incubation Conditions: You can speed up the hatching process by ensuring the egg’s incubation conditions are ideal. This involves adjusting the temperature around the egg to meet its specific needs. For example, fire-type Pals’ eggs might need to be kept warm, while water-type Pals’ eggs require cooler temperatures.
  3. Wait for the Egg to Hatch: Once an egg has been placed in an incubator, it’s just a matter of time before your new Pal hatches. If you need to step away from the game, you can leave the egg in the Incubator and come back when it’s ready.

After the egg hatches, your new Pal will either join your party or, if your party is full, be sent to your Pal Box.
